I had placed the transmission in, then took it out to attach to the longblock, and set the engine with tranny in as one piece.

The Audi 1.8T engine (engine code ATW), attached to an 02A transmission.

1.8T ATW Engine is in.
(To avoid hitting the brake lines, I had to remove the trans mount, lower the engine in place, and reattach it.)

Passenger side rear engine mount.
The 1.8T stock mount bracket positioned perfectly.

Driver's side transmission rear mount, and shift mech in the foreground.
Slave cylinder line, to the right with the cap.
The brake line reservoir will need to be tapped.

This mount worries me, only because it's not in the same spot as the stock 1.8T mount bracket.
This particular mount bracket came with the car (in an unmarked box).
It is not the stock 2.0L bracket, ... not sure what it's from.
Purchased a starter (not installed yet) from a 92 Corrado, and the 2 mounting bolts (190mm) to match.

01/03/2006 Edit: 92 Corrado starter did not fit.
Bolts match the starter, but will not be used.
-- Can't find info anywhere regarding transmission case code "CAL"...
01/20/2006 Edit: Stock mk3 starter should work...
01/27/2006 Edit: Nope.
01/29/2006 Edit: Corrado G60 starter should work...

Slave cylinder is installed.
Shift cables mounted. Shifter in.

Ran into a slight issue with the stock oil filter bracket (aka oil filter adapter).
The original longitudinal engine's oil filter bracket is angled towards the rear of the engine bay.
The oil filter bracket's angled configuration, when attempted with the engine mounted transversely, is prevented due to the location of the front engine mount bracket.
The red arrows depict the angle of the tube that runs the oil through the filter.

Solution: Use the oil bracket from an 1990 1.8L Corrado.
This oil bracket does not sit at an angle, it uses the same bolt hole locations (3 bolts, not 4 as on later transverse 1.8T cars; Golf & Jetta) as the AEB and ATW engins, uses the same gasket, and all elements from the original oil filter bracket bolt on fine - the sensor, plug and oil feed line for the turbo.
Part number below:

Oil pan. Hmm..
